Weekend schedule
Thursday, October 1
Early arrivers party
6 pm at Twisted Tracks Brewpub
WHAT TO EXPECT
All are welcome to join us for a laid-back kick off – heavy apps, local craft beer and wine, and backyard games to get the weekend started right.
Attire: Casual
WHAT TO EXPECT
Friday night we're taking over The Haven — a modern, industrial-chic bar in the heart of downtown Roanoke. It's a full buyout, which means the whole place is ours. Show up, get a drink, grab some food — we'll have a buffet with dinner and apps — and get to know the people you'll be dancing with tomorrow night.
Attire: Snappy casual
Please note: Due to capacity limitations, this is an invite only event.
Saturday, October 3
Wedding ceremony & reception
4 pm at The Exchange
WHAT TO EXPECT
The ceremony starts at 4pm on the main floor of the Exchange. After, head upstairs for cocktail hour — drinks and light bites while we catch our breath. The reception rolls from there: food stations, poker tables, whiskey tasting, and good company throughout. Dancing starts at 8pm. That part is not optional.
Attire: Funky formal
The dress code
Saturday’s dress code is: Funky Formal
Sequins are encouraged. Feathers are encouraged. That bold color you've been waiting for the right occasion to wear? This is that occasion.
It's not mandatory. You can wear classic formal and we will be thrilled to see you. But we want to look back at photos from this wedding and see a room full of people who fully committed. You have our permission to go for it. We are, in fact, asking you to go for it.
Disco ball energy only. Thank you for coming to our TED talk.
FAQs
Is this an adults only weekend? Yes — with one exception. The Thursday event is family friendly and we'd love to see your little ones there. Friday and Saturday are adults only. We love your kids, but we want you to let your hair down. If you need help finding a sitter, reach out to Kelly.
I can't believe they met on Bumble. Is this real? Very real — though to be precise, they reconnected on Bumble after many years. They actually first met at summer camp. Laven's initial response to being informed of their match has been preserved, framed, and will be displayed at the reception. Please find it. Read it in full.
What's the deal with the whiskey tasting? We'll have a whiskey tasting at the reception and we're not taking credit for it — we shamelessly stole this idea from Aagya and Kishore's incredible sangeet reception in Mexico City. If you know, you know.
Will Carmen be at the wedding? Yes, she's the main event.
What city are you visiting for Mediocre Memorial Day next year? We're not telling you. Taking suggestions at the reception.
What is hulaween? A music festival in Live Oak, Florida. Part jam band, part EDM, entirely outdoors. Deeply important to Laven. You don't need to attend Hulaween to attend this wedding, but we respect those who do.
